VIT is a premier training institution and has established a sound reputation for the quality of its courses.  The institute is based in Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria within easy access to public transport.

About Our Courses

VIT offer Certificate and Diploma courses, as well as Professional Certification courses.  VIT also offer short courses in a variety of PC Application programs.

The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) currently on offer is a 2-semester course and incorporates a broad range of IT knowledge, giving a student a thorough insight in the various aspects of information technology, preparing students for entry into the diploma.

On completion of our Certificate IV in Information Technology course students will have become proficient in using Microsoft Office, Visual Basic, Java, HTML, Microsoft Project, Visio and have a working understanding of computer hardware.

The course comprises 15 units grouped into four subjects.  These are project management, systems analysis and design, software development and computer systems.

VIT’s Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) is the first step in bridging the gap between school and tertiary education.

Diploma Courses give students the opportunity to choose an area of specialization.  They can choose to specialize in Software Development, Network Engineering and Multimedia.

Course content and assessment:

Each of the Diplomas offered by VIT consist of eight subjects that must be completed over the duration of the course.  The subjects are spread over the area of computer systems, project management, software development, systems analysis and design.  There is substantial individual assessment over the period of the course with students required to complete a final individual or group project using a case study wherein the student will demonstrate the level of skill he/she has achieved in his/her chosen area of specialization.

Details of subject content can be obtained from the student manual at our nearest authorised representative’s office or email us at info@viit.vic.edu.au

Our Professional Certification courses   bridge the gap between formal IT qualifications and industry’s requirements at a professional level.  At VIT we conduct professional short courses that help prepare candidates for the following industry certification exams.

Ø       MCP Microsoft Certified Professional

Ø       MCSE Microsoft Certified System Engineer

Ø       MCSD Microsoft Certified Solution Developer

Ø       CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate

Ø       A+ Certification

Ø       Network +

These certifications are globally recognized and have become industry standards for obtaining employment.

The training we provide gives the necessary knowledge and skill required to handle these certification exams which give our students an edge above their formal IT qualification.

The certification exams students choose to sit for will depend on the area of IT knowledge they choose to pursue.

Our classes will cover all the modules necessary to obtain any one of the above certifications.

Details of modules required to be completed can be obtained either by contacting our nearest authorised representative or visit our website; www.viit.vic.edu.au

It is important to bear in mind that obtaining professional certification keeps qualifications current, and demonstrates that students possess up-to-the-minute skills.  We are able to offer you this advantage because the Victorian Institute of Technology is a Microsoft Certified Partner.

Why Choose VIT?

One very good reason you should choose VIT is because we focus all our energies and skills on our training, ensuring we give our students the best possible foundation studies in their chosen areas.

On completion of our Diploma, students have the opportunity to pursue studies in a degree course at university, obtaining credit and advanced standing at university.  This is because the Diploma courses we offer are accredited and meet the standards recommended under the IT Industry Training Advisory Board.

Another very good reason is that we keep our classes small and are able to give each student the additional individual attention he/she may require to help him/her along, giving students the much sort after hands-on experience with the products.

Our staff come from diverse and multi-cultural backgrounds with years of experience in teaching and counselling students.  We therefore understand the needs of students, both local and international and find the time and take the trouble to assist our students with their concerns and queries.

Entry Requirements

Secondary Education (“O” “A” or 10+2)

The Australian Qualifications Framework has set down a framework within which we must work.  To comply with Australian regulation it is very essential that students seeking entry into tertiary education in Australia, either have successfully completed the last year of Secondary Education equivalent to the Australian VCE (Year 12) or Year 10+2 or “A” levels or have completed either Certificate III or Certificate IV in IT.  This is so that students have developed the competencies required to be able to handle the technical aspects and the workload of the course.
