The TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration. This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. Simply, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the current industry standard and nationally recognized qualification for trainers and assessors who are delivering training and assessment in the vocational education sector.

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment consists of 10 units of competencies from the nationally recognized training package. This course specially covers the concepts related to teaching and assessing within the VET sector. The qualification equips participants in preparing and presenting training sessions, developing training programs, evaluating and assessing trainees to ensure learning outcomes have been achieved, evaluate and reviewing training. It will enable professional face-to-face and workplace trainers and developers of learning materials to train new and existing employees or volunteers. Many participants also attend to gain further knowledge in implementing industry standards in their workplace.

Study with VIT's workplace training specialists to attain the full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a Statement of Attainment for the modules completed. Participants have the flexibility to complete the modules at their own pace or in a combination that best suits their needs. Both intensive daytime and weekend classes are available. VIT (Victorian Institute of Technology) can also arrange recognition of current competencies (RCC) where you have existing skills, to fast track the completion of this nationally recognized accredited course.

Eligibility Criteria

This course is suitable for teachers and trainers in TAFEs and other registered training organisations. Some professionals who work in different organisations do undertake this course as part of their Professional Development.

Prerequisites:
This program requires a high level of commitment and, as such, is better suited to people with some training experience. Basic computer skills including Word processing, PowerPoint presentation and internet use are essential. Proficiency and high level of English is required to understand and complete this course.

Modes of Delivery Face-to-face, classroom based, self paced study
Assessment Methods

There will be assessment tasks to be completed in class as well as outside class timings. The final reports must be submitted within five weeks of the training end date.

Activities which contain Question and Answer; Presentations; Case Studies; Group Discussions; Research Activities; Practical Demonstrations; Projects; Reflection and Reports.

Pathways from the Qualification After achieving TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, candidates may undertake TAA50104 Diploma of Training and Assessment or may choose to undertake TAE70110 Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice.
